Planmeca Oy is a global leader in many fields of healthcare technology, with products distributed in over 120 countries worldwide. The company’s product range covers digital dental units, CAD/CAM solutions, world-class 2D and 3D imaging devices and comprehensive software solutions. Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, it is the largest privately held company in dental equipment manufacturing and the parent company of Planmeca Group. The Group’s turnover in 2019 was MEUR 770, employing nearly 2,800 people worldwide.

In 2019, Planmeca was looking to upgrade the waterjet cutting technology used in the company’s prototype parts manufacturing. The choice ultimately fell on Muototerä’s FinJet waterjet cutting machine, which was tailored to Planmeca’s demands. The machine was made to fit the company’s existing cutting room and installed with a camera system to allow part positioning and nesting based on a true image of the cutting area. Thanks to the accurate positioning, the cutting can be started quickly and the raw material used efficiently.
